The Jefferson park and recreation department is accepting registrations for several upcoming programs including tumbling and a cooking workshop.
The popular tumbling program is slated for Saturdays Oct. 15 through Nov. 5. Beginners, children in pre-K through age 6 who are new to tumbling, will meet from 10 to 10:30 am. Intermediate tumblers, those who have taken the beginning class but can’t yet do an unassisted back bend, will meet from 10:30 to 11:15 am. The advanced class, for those who can do an unassisted back bend, will meet from 11:15 to 12 pm.
The instructor will be Nicole Bennett-Tuel. Parents who want help determining which class their child should be registered in can call her at 515-370-5672. Class size is limited; register early.
Children ages 6-10 are invited to learn from a Hy-Vee chef how to prepare delicious healthy snacks and kitchen safety are invited to Hy-Vee Chef 4 a Day Wednesday, Oct. 19. Children ages 6-7 will meet from 1 to 2 pm and children ages 8-10 will meet from 2 to 3 pm. Class size is limited; register early.
Tumbling and Hy-Vee Chef 4 a Day will meet at the Greene County Community Center.
JPRD staff is planning activities for Thursday and Friday, Oct. 20-21, days that students will not attend school while teachers attend professional development sessions out of town. Activities for children ages 10-13 are planned starting at 3 pm and will include hockey, whiffle ball, kickball, noodle balloon volleyball and more.
