The eighth grade Ram football team topped the Perry Bluejays 60-0 in a combined fifth quarter game Sept. 15 at Karber Field in Grand Junction.
Tanner Allen received the opening kickoff and ran 82 yards for a touchdown. “That really got the team pumped up and ready to roll,” coach Tanner Lawton said.
Jaxon Warnke had seven carries for 88 yards and three touchdowns. Makayla Kafer had one carry for 44 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Conner Whipple had one carry for two yards and was 4 of 6 passing for 55 yards and a touchdown. Zach Goff had two catches for 40 yards and a touchdown, with the TD coming after an intercepted pass and a 45-yard run. Cam Miller had seven carries for 56 yards. Brady Stauffer had four carries for 31 yards and two catches for 15 yards. Ethan Long had two carries for 20 yards and Jackson Gerdes had two carries for four yards.
Stauffer had close to 80 yards in punt returns. The coach said Kaleb Hoyle had a strong night from defensive tackle and defensive end. He had 10 tackles and two sacks. Cody Maston had four tackles and recovered a fumble. Avery Bardole had nine tackles. Stauffer and Long had seven tackles; Connor Brus had six; Sawyer Schiltz, Warnke and Miller had five tackles each; Tanner Allen and Jackson Gerdes had four tackles; Whipple and Forest Thompson had three tackles; and Peyton Kinsey had two tackles.
The Rams play Roland-Story on the road Sept. 22.
