Jefferson Garden Club Yard of the Month honors for September go to Rodger and Brenda Nichols who live at 500 N. Elm St.
The Nichols’ love of gardening can be seen by the variety of flowers and vegetables that grow in their yard. Having lived in their home for just two years, they have added to the appearance of the area. A colorful display of marigolds, mums, salvia and daisies sit near the street. In front of the house grows a mix of wildflowers, red salvia, yellow coreopsis and pink yarrow. Bordering the house are tomato and pepper plants, coneflowers and climbing clematis. To the north grow various heights of reddish leaved castor bean plants.
