Fair Association ready for third benefit auction

The Greene County Fair Association will hold its third auction Tuesday evening to fund an ambitious plan to renovate the livestock barns at the Greene County Fairgrounds.

The first auction of seed, chemicals, ag services and animal supplements in 2015 raised funds for a new swine barn. The 2016 auction raised funds for a new sheep barn. Proceeds from the upcoming auction will help fund a new cattle barn, with construction planned for 2018.

The auction bill is available by clicking on the live link on the ad posted on GreeneCountyNewsOnline. Ninety-five lots are listed with their suggested retail price included. The items up for auction have been donated and are all things farmers need to purchase for their operation. Payments can be delayed until Jan. 15 on most items.

Fair Association member Bob Allen recently did some drone photography of the fairgrounds. He shared photos with GreeneCountyNewsOnline.

The auction will be Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Clover Hall at the Greene County Fairgrounds. A social hour begins at 5 pm, with the dinner at 6 pm and the auction at 7 pm. Dinner tickets are available at the door or by calling Doug Hawn at 712-652-3685.
