The third annual ag barbecue and auction hosted by the Greene County Fair Association will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The event raises funds to help erect and maintain new livestock buildings on the Greene County Fairgrounds.
The event in Clover Hall on the Fairgrounds in Jefferson begins with a social at 5 pm. Dinner will be served at 6 followed by the auction at 7.
About $90,000 was raised last year.
A large number of agricultural products will be sold including seed, chemicals, services, etc. All items auctioned have been donated by suppliers and service providers. Fair Association secretary Doug Hawn calls the auction a win-win, as farmers purchase supplies they need at very close to market price, and the Fairgrounds are improved as a result.
