Town & Country Band to play in conjunction with farmers market

The Town and Country Band will play on the courthouse square Tuesday, Aug. 30, in conjunction with the Greene County farmers market.

The farmers market starts at 4 pm, so there will be plenty of time to pick up fresh produce, meat and baked goods from local vendors, and to enjoy that week’s market supper, which will be served by Spare Time Lanes. There are also other nearby restaurants.

The music will begin at 6 pm. Musicians from all over Greene County comprise the band, which is under the direction of Victoria Chargo. The band rehearses at the Paton-Churdan school. The band will play a variety of familiar toe-tappers, some of which may even prompt a bit of dancing.

The band’s location on the courthouse square depends on the weather, with band members, like the audience, preferring lawn seating in hot weather. Those coming to hear the band should plan to bring lawnchairs.

As during many casual, open air performances, an instrument case will be open to accept donations for the band.

The Town and Country Band is playing at the suggestion of Jefferson Matters: Main Street volunteer Shirley Stapleton. She and other Jefferson Matters volunteers hope the Aug. 30 performance will be the beginning of a tradition in downtown Jefferson.
