Marianne Carlson of Jefferson continues to claim ribbons and prizes in State Fair foods competitions. In the Chocolate Storybook Candies competition judged Aug. 12 she snagged reserve sweepstakes honors. She placed first in basic fudge (no marshmallow crème) and first in fudge with nuts. She also placed first in Chocolate Works- toffee.

At Evangel University, students on the dean’s list have achieved a grade point average of 3.6 or higher. Jacobs is the daughter of Allen and Peggy Jacobs of Jefferson.

Dennis Dean Murphy, 61, of Jefferson was listed Aug. 15 on the FBI’s National Crime Information Center data base after his wife Marlene reported she has had no contact from him since Aug. 9. Jefferson police chief Mark Clouse said no foul play is suspected. There is not an active search for Murphy.
