Non-partisan offices on Nov. 8 ballot

Ballot box Nomination papers due at auditor’s office by Aug. 31

Nomination papers for the non-party offices that will be on the Nov. 8 ballot are available now. They may be filed and must be received in the Greene County auditor’s office at the courthouse in Jefferson by  Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 5 pm.

There are three Agricultural Extension Council members with four-year terms expiring. They are Shari Minnehan, Thomas F Heater and a vacant seat that will be filled. A two-year term on the Extension Council held by Pam Olerich that will be on the ballot. Another seat held by Doug Rieder will be elected to fill a vacancy on the Council.

The Greene County Hospital board of trustees will elect three members for six-year positions. The terms of Judy Sankot, Jim Schleisman and Bill Raney expire at the end of the year.

Three members of the Soil and Water Conservation Commission will complete their terms. They are Fred Long, Jean Finch and Mark Naberhaus. Finch has indicated to election officials she is not a candidate for re-election. These are four-year terms.

Township trustees will also be on their respective ballots. They include:

  • Dawson – David Cunningham and Keith Walker
  • Franklin – Chris Henning and Stephen Molle
  • Grant – Doug Carman and Stacy Schiltz
  • Greenbrier – Rod Frederick and Jeff Hughes
  • Highland – Jane Borkowski and Tim Towers
  • Jackson – Keith Conroy and Bob Eason
  • Junction – Jeff Gilley and Steve Schrum
  • Kendrick – Denton Wenger and Don Ferguson
  • Scranton – Neal Hoyt and Allen Robson
  • Washington – Tod Contner and Roger Norgren
  • Willow – Don Bielenberg and David W Wolf

Most nomination papers require at least 25-50 signatures. Check with the auditor’s office for complete information.

All candidates must fill out an affidavit of candidacy that is available at the auditor’s office.
