In Greene County district court Lester Leroy Johns, 60, of Scranton was sentenced Aug. 4 to 60 days in jail after he pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He may complete an OWI Weekend Offender program in lieu of the jail time. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Johns was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education. He must also pay $250 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs.
Joseph Ross Jabaay, 37, of Jefferson pleaded not guilty at arraignment to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. A trial date was set for Sept. 27.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Rachel Lavonne Baker, 33, of Des Moines, possession of methamphetamine- first offense and possession of marijuana- first offense; Robert Alan Fry, 52, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault- second offense; Marshall Lee Mcollough, 22, of Waterloo, attempted burglary- third degree; Stormy Dawn Brown, 38, of Jefferson, theft- fourth degree; and Nastassia Chanel Goff, 31, of Grand Junction, accessory to a felony.
