Kara Betts (right) was crowned Greene County Fair queen Friday evening. She spent Saturday awarding ribbons and the cattle show at the fair, and will represent Greene County in the Iowa State Fair Queen contest next month.
As a State Fair Queen contestant, she is eligible to win not only prestige, but college scholarships, gift certificates, and more.
She will reign over the 2017 Greene County Fair until a new fair queen is crowned.
Kara is the daughter of Alan and Tanya Betts of rural Jefferson. She will be a junior at Greene County High School.
She was crowned by Abby Badger (left), the 2015 fair queen. Abby reported that at the State Fair last summer she had “a lot of fun and met a lot of really great girls.”
