The 37th annual Bell Tower Festival, FIFTY Fest, will claim the courthouse square in Jefferson this Friday and Saturday. “We’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower, the centerpiece of the festival. Watch for all the ways that ‘FIFTY Fest’ theme is used,” said Angie Pedersen, Greene County Chamber of Commerce tourism and events coordinator.
Discount tickets for the carnival rides are available through Thursday. For $20, a purchaser will get a ticket that can be traded during the Festival for a wristband for unlimited rides that same day. The wristbands will cost $25 if purchased Friday or Saturday.
Amusement Associates, the same carnival that was at the Festival last summer, is returning with even more mechanical rides and inflatables.
The discount tickets, as well as advance tickets for the Festival barbecue, are available at the Chamber of Commerce office at 220 N. Chestnut St, The Printer’s Box, Home State Bank, or the Jefferson office of Peoples Trust & Savings Bank.
The Festival barbecue will feature pork this year, with the Greene County Pork Producers grilling pork burgers and 8 oz chops. Advance tickets for the burger meal are $7 each, with the chop meal priced at $8. Tickets at the door will be $8 and $9 respectively. Potato salad, beans, dinner rolls, chips and a beverage will round out the menu.
The barbecue will be served from 5 to 7 pm at the Greene County Community Center.
