A colorful mural reminiscent of an ocean beach will remind people at the Jefferson municipal pool that Greene County has talented art students.
Updates to the concession stand are among several improvements at the pool, all paid for with funds received by the city of Jefferson from Wild Rose Casino.
Greene County High School Sarah Stott explained that Jefferson park and recreation director Vicky Lautner approached her a couple of months ago about students painting a mural on the concession stand. “I thought that would be the perfect end of the year assignment for my Painting and New Media classes to do, to collaborate with eacher and work outside the last week of school,” Stott said.
She came up with the ocean theme and her students filled in, Stott said.
The students were lucky that it didn’t rain during the class periods they planned to paint, but the mosquitoes, nearly as big as seagulls, it would seem, were a bit of a challenge.
