Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. The program helps students develop creative-thinking skills that can be applied to real-life situations. Teams from throughout the U.S. and more than 25 other countries participate.
The event at Ames will feature more than 8,000 of the world’s brightest young people as they gather to match their intellects, wits, and problem-solving skills. This year is the largest ever with over 850 teams competing. It’s estimated that close to 20,000 people from around the world will gather for this event.
Additionally, volunteers and staff of RSVP 55+ of Boone/Greene Counties will be among those who will earn a stipend for their group by serving lunch for the competitors and others at the Odyssey.
Next year the world finals will be at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI.
