Architect praises maintenance of courthouse

Steve Stimmel, architect/historian at Brooks Borg Skiles, had high praise Sunday for the Greene County courthouse. Stimmel, a reviewer of applications for the National Register of Historic Places in Iowa, said, “I don’t think I’ve seen a better maintained courthouse in the country.” Stimmel was presenter at the historical museum following the rededication of the cornerstone at the courthouse. Students’ art will complement the Jefferson phone book Jefferson Telecom partnered with Greene County Elementary School to facilitate the Catch-A-Sketch program again this year. Tom Fiegen, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in the June 7 primary, will be in Jefferson Wednesday, May 25. The meet-and-greet event from 7 to 8 pm at Prairie Blue Creative Arts, 114 N. Wilson, will be an opportunity for community members to hear Fiegen’s views and his proposed solutions to issues that include food, agriculture, and the environment.
