Retail Scapes students ready for final presentations

Iowa State Extension and Outreach has partnered with Jefferson Matters: Main Street, the city of Jefferson and Greene County Chamber of Commerce to work with students in Iowa State University’s College of Design during the spring semester.  The students are ready to present their final design interventions for Jefferson on Monday, April 25 from 2-4 p.m. at the Sierra Theatre.  The public is welcome to attend.

Students have developed posters of their ideas and will hang them around the business center. Residents are welcome to visit with students individually about their projects during the time period.

In March, the posters were in preliminary stages but after feedback from the community, changes have been made. The community will receive a copy of all of the interventions and students will have them available for the public to see at the end of the semester.

This interaction has been very successful for both the students and community members involved in this process. Seeing Jefferson through the eyes of young professionals was very beneficial. Their ideas are appreciated and community leaders hope to move them to the implementation level,” said Jefferson Matters: Main Street program director Peg Raney.

There are have been 30-40 residents at each of the monthly presentations.
