To the editor –
The Churdan Public Library is very honored to be one of the first recipients of a Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation grant! We have been working very hard for the past two years to raise funds to expand and remodel our library. Our project has a total estimated cost, in 2013 dollars, of $250,000. We have had wonderful community support and with the receipt of this grant we now have one-half ($130,000) of the funds needed to achieve our goal.
While there are many grants available for library programming and collections, there are very few that offer funding for help with the remodel/construction of a building, and those that are available require that there be one-half or greater money already secured.
It is only with the money from this grant that we are now able to start the second phase of securing funding for a 1000 square-foot addition and remodel of the current facility. We are excited to have already begun writing the grants that will help us achieve our goal!
Our fundraising efforts will continue until our goal is met. Again, a special thank you to Grow Greene County for helping us to realize our dream!
