There is still space available in Greene County Extension’s popular Babysitting Basics course. Youth in grades 5-6 will meet on two consecutive Saturdays, April 2 and 9, from 8:30 am to noon. The workshop will be held at St Joseph Parish Center in Jefferson. Cost is $25 for all registrations received by March 30. If there is room, additional registrations will be accepted at a cost of $35.
Kids will learn babysitting responsibilities and what employers expect, ideas to entertain children, how to handle emergencies, first aid and safety pointers, and how to care for children of different ages.
Sessions will be led by Kayla Hyett, county youth and 4-H coordinator; Sue Richardson, county families coordinator; and others including a dietitian, health care providers, members of law enforcement and the fire department, and parents with young children to observe and interact with.
For a registration form, stop by the Greene County Extension office at 104 W. Washington, call 515-386-2138, or visit www.extension.iastate.edu/greene.
