4-H plans zoo trip for members in grades 5-6

Chaperones needed for overnight trip

All 4-H members in grades 5-6 are invited to participate in a six county 4-H trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Friday and Saturday, June 3-4.

Participants will sleep near the animals, and they’ll experience the Lozier IMAX Theater with its screen as tall as four giraffes and as wide as seven rhinos and six speakers that each weigh as much as a Siberian tiger. There will also be a guided night hike around the zoo.

Registration deadline is May 1. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Online registration is preferred but paper registration will also be accepted. Trip cost is $105 per youth and chaperone. Each Greene County 4-H member is allowed one 50 percent scholarship, no application necessary, through Greene County 4-H Foundation. For members using a scholarship for the trip, cost will be $52.50. Members will need to bring a sack lunch for supper on the bus on Friday, cash for souvenirs and extra snacks.    Chaperones are needed.  All chaperones must complete a background check.

Applications are available here or at the Extension office, 204 W. Washington St, Jefferson. Persons who want more information can call the Extension office at 515-386-2138 or email Kayla at kyhett@iastate.edu.
