Greene Co. school board to hold public forums

The Greene County Schools board of education will hold public forums the second Wednesday of every month starting April 13.

Two or three school board members, along with superintendent Tim Christensen, will meet with the public from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the administrative building in Jefferson. The meeting will include an educational update related to the district’s vision, mission, values and goals, an update on other business of the district, and then time for questions and answers.

Board members will rotate on a monthly basis and all board members will participate in the open meetings over a three month period.

According to Christensen, the public forums are a response to suggestions made by parents at the March 16 board meeting.

“Similar to a regular board meeting, this is not a forum to criticize individual employees. It is an avenue to have questions answered, better understand school policies and procedures, and bring potential concerns as well as potential solutions for these concerns,” Christensen said. “The ultimate goal is to work together to improve the overall educational opportunities for all students.”
