In Greene County district court sentencing was done Feb. 29 in a pair of cases against Lance Michael Ross, 19, of Grand Junction. In a case that was initiated in March 2015 Ross was charged with sex abuse-third degree. The charge was amended to lascivious acts with a child and Ross was sentenced to five years in prison. After the prison term is completed Ross will remain in the custody of the Department of Corrections for 10 years (with eligibility for parole). He will be named on the Iowa sex offender registry for 10 years. The minimum fine of $750 with a $262.50 surcharge was suspended, but Ross must pay a $250 civil penalty.
In a case that was initiated in May 2015 Ross was charged with criminal mischief-second degree and criminal mischief-third degree. He was sentenced to two years in prison, consecutive to the previous term. He was fined $625 with a $227.50 surcharge; both were suspended. A judgment was entered for a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge and $167.84 court costs. Restitution will be determined. The charge of criminal mischief-second degree was dismissed. Persons pleaded not guilty in district court as follows: Adam James Elsberry, 26, of Gowrie, theft-second degree (three counts); Patrick Douglas Doyle, 46, of Jefferson, unauthorized use of credit card; Fashion Marie Foster, 41, of Rippey, possession of marijuana a-third or subsequent offense, possession of cocaine-third or subsequent offense, and failure to affix tax stamp; and Dylan Mikul Casali, 18, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana-first offense. Trial dates were set for May 10 in every case.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Tanner Dean Bush, 29, of Churdan, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense; Steven Logan Dzuris, 29, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault-second offense; and Heather Thelma Erwin, 34, of Jefferson, manufacture, deliver or possess with intent to manufacture or deliver methamphetamine.
