The second Cash Mob is being planned for Saturday, March 12, in Jefferson’s Main Street District. This March event will be called “Spendin’ of the Green.”
People of all ages are invited to meet at 10:30 am at the Main Street office. The name of a Main Street District retail store will be drawn from the hat. All in attendance will walk together to that store and “mob” it, vowing to spend at least $20 each.
The group will eat lunch together at another downtown business, Peony Chinese Restaurant. The Jefferson Matters: Main Street promotion committee will ask all those involved to write their names on their receipts. A drawing for $25 in Chamber Bucks will be held for a lucky winner.
Chantelle Long of Peony told Peg Raney, director of Jefferson Matters: Main Street , that the Peony will also draw another receipt for more Chamber Bucks. The committee hopes for 26 mobbers to attend the March 12 event.
The February Cash Mob was the first in Jefferson with 33 people involved. Lori Smith of Ben Franklin/Tech Zone said more than $700 was spent in their store in that hour the cash mob descended on them. All in attendance had a great time and encouraged the committee to continue to organize similar events.
