In Greene County district court Roy Steed Cope, 72, of Centerville was sentenced to two consecutive two-year prison terms Jan. 25 after he pleaded guilty to charges of attempted burglary-third degree and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. The prison terms were not suspended. Judgments were entered for a $625 fine and a $218.75 surcharge on each count; the fines and surcharges were suspended. Judgments were also entered for a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge on each count. Cope must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees in an amount to be determined and $189.98 court costs. A companion case in magistrate court in which Cope was charged with theft-fifth degree was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Adam James Elsberry, 26, of Gowrie had been charged with theft-second degree (three counts). Warrants were issued Nov. 30 and returned Feb. 1.
Cases were initiated recently in district court as follows: Brittany Kay Smith, 28, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault-third or subsequent offense; Tyler Joe Beger, 18, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana; and Andrew Lee Jensen, 33, of Jefferson, criminal mischief-fourth degree and escape from custody.
