The Greene County jazz band competed in the third annual Triton Jazz Festival at Iowa Central Community College on Jan. 14-15.
Nineteen jazz bands in four classes performed for a panel of judges and then participated in separate clinic sessions. First, second and third place rankings as well as soloist awards were presented.
Junior trumpet player Jack Schilling and senior keyboard player Reilly Harrington were selected from the Greene County jazz band for soloist awards. The Ram musicians competed in Class 3A. Adel-DeSoto-Minburn took first place while Garner Hayfield Ventura was second and Humboldt, third.
Newell-Fonda was the Class 1A top band. Southeast Valley won Class 2A. Fort Dodge I was picked as the 4A winners. ~The Scranton Journal
