The Jefferson Pizza Ranch at 206 N. Wilson was severely damaged by a fire early Wednesday.
The fire was reported by area residents at 12:16 am, according to Jefferson police chief Mark Clouse.
The Jefferson fire department was assisted at the scene by the Churdan and Grand Junction departments. The Carroll fire department sent an aerial truck and crew, although that equipment was not used. The JPD and Alliant Energy were on the scene as well, with the Greene County sheriff’s office assisting with traffic control.
Firefighters were on the scene until daylight hours. Smoke was still coming from the building at 8:15 am.
The interior of the restaurant was severely damaged. The fire was contained to Pizza Ranch. The three businesses to the south received heavy smoke damage.
The state fire marshal will investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
