Sierra Community Theatre with help from many sponsors will host Classics Week Friday, Jan. 15 through Thursday, Jan. 21. The SCT board has selected a variety of movies for the special week. There is no admission charge for the movies, although donations to the theatre will be accepted and concessions will be available for purchase.
Kicking off Classics Week is the 1965 epic drama-romance “Dr Zhivago,” starring Omar Sharif and Julie Christie. Show times are Friday at 6 pm and Saturday at 1 pm and 6 pm.
Those who love The Duke will enjoy a John Wayne double feature Sunday. The western favorite “The Searchers” (1956), co-starring Natalie Wood, will play at 1 and 3:30 pm, while the Vietnam era classic “The Green Berets” (1968) will show at 6 pm.
The subjects will be lighter as Classics Week continues. Steven Spielberg’s 1985 science fiction adventure comedy “Back to the Future” is slated for Monday at 2 pm and 6 pm and Tuesday at 6 pm.
Classics Week will conclude with “Mrs Doubtfire” (1993) starring Robin Williams and Sally Field Wednesday at 2 pm and 6 pm and Thursday (Jan. 21) at 6 pm.
