The Polar Express made a fantastic journey to the top of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower Dec. 15 for children and adults in the Kids With a Connection mentoring program.
The train, which belongs to KWS coordinator Janice Harbaugh, was set up for the evening by Greene County sheriff Steve Haupert and Jefferson police officer Blayne Sunstrom.
The bell tower’s own conductor Pat Richards escorted a total of 17 children and adults to see the train and enjoy hot chocolate (without singing and dancing porters), cookies, the view, and great conversation.
The Kids With a Connection pairs children in grades K-12 with caring adults who want to make a difference in the community one child at a time. For more information visit the Greene County Extension & Outreach website or call 515-386-2138.
