Greene County magistrate court, week ending Dec. 18

In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered Dec. 16 in a case that was initiated in district court against Brittany Kay Smith of Jefferson. Smith was charged with domestic abuse assault-second offense. The charge was amended to domestic abuse assault-simple. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail. All but two days were suspended and she was placed on informal probation for one year. She must complete a batterers education program at her own expense. Smith was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge. Court costs were $116.50.

A judgment was entered in a case initiated in district court against Andrew Steven Gathercoal of Grand Junction. He was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. The charge was amended to assault simple and a judgment was entered against him for a $100 fine with a $35 surcharge. Court costs were $100.

Nicole Marie Choate of Grand Junction was fined $100 on each of two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She must also pay a $35 surcharge on each count. Two counts of accessory to a misdemeanor were dismissed. Court costs were $60.

Larry Dean Gardiner of Guthrie Center paid a $65 fine and a $22.75 surcharge on a charge of trespass (casino self-exclusion). He also paid a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge and $60 court costs.

A judgment was entered against Steven Lynn Warnke of Lake City on a charge of theft-fifth degree. He was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. Court costs were $60.

A judgment was entered against Michael Lee Eastman of Jefferson on a charge of theft-fifth degree. He was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. He must also pay $120 restitution and $60 court costs.

A case was initiated against Joseph Thomas Romeo II of Jefferson on a charge of assault.

Persons paid fines for scheduled traffic violations during the week ending Dec. 18 as follows: Courtney Kay Seuntjens of Danbury, dark window or windshield, $50; Santino Maurice Austin of Urbandale, no valid driver’s license, $200; and Richard Dean Tuhn Jr of Grand Junction, operation without registration card or plate, $50.

Also, speed, $90 (16-20 mph over limit): Sarah Beth Larson of Churdan, Daniel Eugene Venter of Johnston.

Speed, $40 (6-10 over): Jody Rae Fouch of Grand Junction, David A. Hibler of Manley, NE, Amy Sue Gring of Harlan, Santino Maurice Austin of Urbandale, and Lisa Marie Dukes of Ames.

Speed, $20 (1-5 over): Ivan Garcia of Perry, Anne Francis Arends of Webster City, Rebecca Kay Boatman of Panora, Anthony Richard Pille of Paton, *Jillisa Antoinette Sires Woods of Melbourne, *Breanna Nichole Conrad of Boone, Kevin J. Cooper of Oak Park, IL, John Douglas Denning of Roland, Dawn Anne Scott of Glidden, and Kathleen Marie Deal of Bagley.

Hunting/fishing violations: Alex C. Stammer of Perry, traps prohibited methods, tag requirements, $25.

Judgments were entered against individuals for nonpayment of scheduled fines as follows (original fine listed): Matthew Alvin Prenger of Carroll, James Lin Wells of Jefferson and Chloe Ranae Yoder of Prairie City, speed, $20; Charles M. Williams of Chicago, IL, speed, $90; Nancy Elizabeth Ramirez of Marshalltown, speed, $40; Andrew Sayre of Jefferson, failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way, $100; Clay Michael Cunningham of Jefferson, no valid driver’s license, $200, and failure to maintain control, $100; Casey Leblanc of Des Allemands, LA, restrictions on taking game – deer and turkey, $100 (two citations); and Juan Santiago Murielmerlo of Panorama City, CA operation of motor vehicle with expired license, $50.

The judgment includes a penalty of one-half the original fine and surcharge.

Court costs were $60 on each citation unless otherwise noted.
