The Paton-Churdan Rockets won a boys hoops game against the West Harrison Hawks by a 64-51 score in Mondamin Friday night.
The Rockets scored first but the Hawks dominated the first quarter and had a nine point lead after six minutes of play. The Rockets shortened the lead to three points by the end of the quarter but still trailed the entire second quarter, with an eight point differential with four minutes to play in the half. The score at halftime was 35-31 in favor of the Hawks. The Hawks were aided in that half by six 3-point shots – four by Keaton King and two by Ty Houston.
The second half looked much different as the Rockets scored 12 unanswered points and took a 47-41 lead into the start of the fourth quarter. The Hawks mustered only 10 points in that quarter while the Rockets scored 17. Final score was 64-51. Houston scored two more 3-point shots that half; the Rockets had no 3-point shots for the game.
Lead scorer for the Rockets was Noah Juergensen with 23 points, followed by Joe Towers with 21 points. Jake Berns scored 13 points, Chase Juergensen scored five, and Kourtlin Thacker scored two points.
Noah Juergensen had 11 rebounds and Chase Juergensen had eight. Joe Towers was credited with seven assists and five steals.
The Rockets are 2-0 overall and in the Rolling Valley Activities Conference.
