The Paton-Churdan girls turned their backs on their disappointing 66-42 loss at home Tuesday to Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton by scoring a very convincing 67-23 win over the West Harrison Hawks in Mondamin Dec. 4.
Carleigh Paup led in scoring with 22 points. Sydney Koch had 17 points, Kasey Lane had 11, Megan Carey had nine and Grace Geisler had two points. Carey had Paup each had two assists, and Koch, Lane and Geisler had one each.
Koch and Jenna Beyers were effective rebounding, with 11 rebounds each. Carey had eight rebounds, Paup and Geisler had seven each, Lane had four and Reilly Niles and Briana Jewett had one each. The Rockets were aggressive in stealing the ball, with Paup having six steals, Koch and Carey at five, Lane at three, Geisler at two, and Niles and Jenna Beyers each stealing the ball once. Lane was credited with two blocks and Koch was credited with one.
“The girls did a great job of bouncing back from a tough loss to Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton,” coach Chris Petersen said. “We did a nice job of jumping out to a lead and never taking our foot off the gas. it was a good confidence builder for our girls, and I was impressed with how aggressive the girls played.”
