On April 28, 1937, Don was born to Imo and James Muzney in Jefferson. Don was born with music running through his blood. By the time he was 12 years old, he had already picked up a guitar and a bond had been made.
Don spent the majority of his life in Jefferson. After high school, Don entered the Navy, where his love of playing the guitar grew even more. He met the love of his life, Carolyn, and married her Dec. 2, 1962. They stayed together until she passed away from cancer in December of 2007. Together they had three children, Hank, Don Robbin (who died in infancy), and Travis.
Don’s love for music and playing the guitar could be heard every Friday and Saturday night where Don was found playing at a local club or bar. Whether it was with the Country Bells, or playing his guitar with another band, he always had a guitar in his hand.
Don was recently diagnosed with bone cancer. Don lost his battle on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, surrounded by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Imo Muzney, son Don Robbin, wife Carolyn Muzney, and sister Sue Benson.
Don is survived by his children: Hank (Julie) Muzney of Jefferson and Travis (Katherine) Muzney of Elkhorn, NE; his brother Darrell (Peggy) Muzney of South Sioux City, NE; his sister Ruby Stevens of Jefferson; his companion Susie (Kyle & Christi) McKinsey of Jefferson; grandchildren Miranda (Sean) Sebourn, Christina (Tracy) Mitchels, Hank Jr. Muzney, Emily Muzney, and Brady Muzney; great- grandchildren Deacon Mitchels, Hunter Mitchels, Roman Sebourn, Olivia Sebourn, and Cameron Mitchels; brother-in-law Harold Benson of Gregory, SD; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
