The three Presbyterian churches of Greene County (Jefferson, Grand Junction, and Paton) joined forces for humanitarian relief. About 50 people gathered Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson to package hygiene kits for refugees in the Middle East.
Two hundred kits were packed with a washcloth, towel, Band-Aids, soap, toothbrush, and nail clippers. The bags will be shipped to Arkansas first where they will be compiled with other Presbyterian efforts to be shipped over seas.
The event was a cooperative effort between the youth groups of the churches and adult volunteers. They shared a delicious supper as well as great fellowship in packaging the kits.
This is part of the work of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program which is one of the first responders to disasters world-wide.
