The state cross country meet will go on without representation by the Greene County Rams. At the state qualifying meet held Thursday in Glenwood, the first Ram across the finish line, junior Olivia Hansen, was four places and 16.7 seconds away from qualifying.
At the meet, the top four teams and the top 15 finishers qualify for the state meet. The 15th individual time was 20:51. Hansen was 19th in the girls race with a time of 21:07.7. Other Ram finishes were sophomore Emily Finch in 31st in 22:07.4, freshman Melanie Doran in 64th at 25:03.9, sophomore Regan Lamoureux in 69th at 26:05.9, senior Sunny Mobley in 74th at 25:45.2, sophomore Emily Bettey in 77th at 28:50, and sophomore Emma Larson in 78th at 29:40.2. Hansen, Lamoureux and Bettey all set personal records.
The fastest time at Glenwood was DC-G’s Lexi Smith at 19:08. The fastest qualifying time in 3A statewide was 18:20 set by Madison Bach of Marion at the Fairfield site.
In the boys race, sophomore Nick Killion placed 62nd with a time of 20:07.4. Other finishes were sophomore Ben Wilkins in 70th at 20:31.7, senior Ethan Woodruff in 75th at 21:22, sophomore Nathan Kennedy at 80th in 23:05.9, and sophomore Jacob Hueser in 81st at 27:58.9.
The fastest boy at Glenwood was Creston’s Cooper McDermott at 16:42. The fastest 3A qualifying time was 15:29 set by Logan Murray of Mount Pleasant, also at the Fairfield site.
Team scores for the girls were Dallas Center-Grimes 57, Harlan 72, Denison-Schleswig 96, Glenwood 107, Winterset 116, Atlantic 122, ADM 193, Creston 195, Greene County 257, Saydel 280, Perry 297, and Clarke (Osceola) 319.
Team scores for the boys were DC-G 41, Winterset 70, Harlan 106, Atlantic 133, Kuemper Catholic 159, Glenwood 165, Denison-Schleswig 203, Saydel 205, Creston 208, Perry 264, ADM 269, and Greene County 368.
