Mitchell Stevens, an eighth grader at Greene County Middle School, was accepted to participate in the Iowa Opus Honor Choir Festival. He will sing in the 7-8 grade bass clef choir. Selection was based on a taped audition.
The festival is held in Ames on Nov. 19 with a concert in Stephens Auditorium. “Thousands of kids audition for a spot in one of four choirs, so it is quite an honor,” Greene County vocal music director Dave Heupel said.
The Opus Honor Choir Festival is held under the auspices of the Iowa Choral Directors Association.
