The Greene County board of education as it discussed the failed $20 million bond issue proposal earlier this month decided information about what prompted “no” votes would be important to have before another ballot.
Superintendent Tim Christensen began that process at the community town hall meeting Sept. 28. All those who attended the meeting were handed a paper survey as they walked in. The very short survey asks only two questions: “How did you vote in the bond referendum on Sept. 8?” and “If you voted against the bond referendum, why did you cast a no vote?” A checklist of possible reasons follows, along with space to write in a different reason.
“The goal is to find out why it didn’t pass, what things people are concerned about, so that as a board we can take a look at that and make changes that need to be made. We’re seeking feedback…. Let us know what things we need to do because we’ll be looking at a bond referendum again in the spring,” Christensen said.
The survey can be returned to any Greene County School building or to the Greene County Development Corporation office at the Jefferson municipal building at 220 N. Chestnut St.
A copy of the survey is available here. The school plans to develop an online survey and to include the paper version in the district newsletter that will be mailed to all district patrons in November.
