Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Wednesday, Sept. 30: At 10 am, the chief deputy sheriff will charge Brenden Robert Patterson, 18, of Boone for criminal mischief to the restroom at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center*. At 5:41 pm a deputy was dispatched for the report of cattle along the roadway near L Ave and 180th St in Bristol Township. The owner was notified of the situation. At 6:27 pm a deputy was advised of the theft of fuel from a business in Scranton. At 7:20 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction to investigate criminal mischief and vandalism to a vehicle.
Tuesday, Sept. 29: At 8:54 am, a deputy was dispatched to a vehicle off the roadway on 285th Street, three-quarters mile west of County Road P-40 (U Ave) west of Rippey. No one was with the vehicle and the deputy had the car towed from the area. At 11:22 am a deputy planned to assist the Department of Human Services with an investigation in Scranton. At 5:11 pm dispatchers from the Union Pacific railroad advised Greene County dispatchers that a train crew reported seeing a nude male subject who seemed to be disoriented, along the tracks near the Jordan Ave crossing between Jefferson and Scranton. Several deputies responded but were unable to locate the male streaker.
Monday, Sept. 28: At 2:02 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of Grant St in Scranton to investigate a trespassing concern. At 9:14 pm a deputy was advised of a car-deer accident that occurred on County Road N-65 (D Ave) near County Road E-19 (140th St). The vehicle continued on home and the owner advised the deputy that she will pick up an accident report for insurance purposes.
Sunday, Sept. 27: At 5:40 am a deputy was dispatched back to the 1000 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction for a reported fight in progress. After an investigation, the deputy arrested Andrew Steven Gathercoal, 21, of Grand Junctionon two counts of assault causing bodily injury*. At 10:36 am a deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of 11th Street South in Grand Junction to investigate the theft of a bicycle. The child’s bike was not located at that time. At 11:26 am a deputy was advised of criminal mischief to a tractor cab window in the 1000 block of 160th St in Highland Township. At 4:23 pm a deputy and the Scranton fire department were dispatched to a silage chopper fire in the 1500 block of F Ave in Scranton Township. Damage to the self-propelled 2006 Clouse ensilage Chopper that was owned by Mike Minnehan of rural Churdan was estimated to be $200,000.
Saturday, Sept. 26: At 1:20 am the chief deputy sheriff executed a traffic stop on a vehicle on County Road E-57 (235th St) near County Road P-33 (S Ave) and subsequently arrested Anthony David Rothmeyer, 46, of Grand junction, on an outstanding warrant from Dallas County. At 1:30 am, four members of the Greene County sheriff’s office, assisted by Boone County sheriff’s deputies converged on a reported underage drinking party at a residence in the 2400 block of 180th St in Junction Township. After an investigation and field sobriety testing, Alexander Rae Swanberg, 19, of Fort Dodge, Claire Elaine Gordon, 19, of Boone, Kara Lynn Stevens, 20, of Boone, Kevin Armondo Montoya, 18, of Grand Junction, Brenden Robert Patterson, 18, of Boone, Wyatt William Hanna, 19, of Farnhamville, and Landon Mac Smith, 18, of Fort Dodge were all taken into custody and booked in to the Greene county jail for being minors in possession of alcohol*. One juvenile female was also taken into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested and taken into custody was Rowdy Lee Renwanz, 20, of Gowrie for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana – second offense*. An arrest warrant was also issued for Devin Nelson, 19, of Fort Dodge, for minor in possession and interference with official acts*. At 5:03 am, a deputy was dispatched for the report of a vehicle in the ditch on the Highway 144 diagonal north of Rippey. After an investigation, the deputy issued a citation to Cory Ray Seeman, 27, of Rippey for failure to provide proof of insurance, accident related and possible child endangerment charges*. At 2:17 pm, a deputy was advised of a missing five month old Australian Blue Heeler with a red collar that was possibly taken from a parked vehicle in Paton. At 5:27 pm, a deputy assisted a Jefferson police officer and Greene county EMS with a traffic accident in the 600 block of Madison St in Jefferson. At 7:33 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of North 11th St in Grand Junction to investigate the reported theft of personal property.

Thursday, Sept. 24: At 2:29 am a deputy was advised by a Grand Junction resident in the 600 block of E. Hager St of trespassing and criminal mischief on his property. At 5:34 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction to investigate criminal mischief to a window.
Wednesday, Sept. 23: At 6:24 pm a deputy was asked to assist the Department of Human Services with an investigation in Rippey.
Tuesday, Sept. 22: At 7:22 am a deputy was advised of cars driving erratic and careless on W. Percival St. in Rippey during the morning school bus pickup time. At 1:49 pm a deputy investigated a harassment concern in the 800 block of E. Percival St in Grand Junction.
Monday, Sept. 21: At 7:33 pm a deputy was asked to assist the Department of Human Services with an investigation in Grand Junction. At 7:46 pm a deputy was advised that the Union Pacific railroad crossing arm on 13th St in Grand Junction was malfunctioning. The railroad was advised and sent a crew to rectify the problem. At 7:56 pm a deputy checked a vehicle reported to be having mechanical issues on Highway 30 near Hillcrest Ave east of Scranton. After checking the identity of the driver, he was arrested by the deputy on an outstanding warrant from Adair County and transported to Bayard to be picked up by an Adair County Deputy.
Sunday, Sept. 20: At 1:07 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Main St in Rippey to investigate the reported theft of license plates from a vehicle. At 4:47 pm a deputy was unable to locate several reported off road dirt bikes that were operating on Jordan Ave near the Raccoon River boat ramp. At 7:32 pm a deputy was advised of criminal mischief to a bicycle in the 400 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 7:51 pm a deputy was advised of the smell of anhydrous ammonia coming from the FC fertilizer plant on Highway 144 south of Paton. The plant manager was advised and located the source of the odor. At 7:52 pm, a deputy investigated the report of harassment to a male subject while hunting in the 1800 block of 283rd St in Franklin Township.
Saturday, Sept. 19: At 7:13 pm the chief deputy located and arrested Edward Eugene Goff, 36, of Jefferson on an outstanding warrant from Boone County for a parole violation*. At 11:19 pm the chief deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of 11th St South in Grand Junction for a reported domestic altercation. After an investigation, the chief deputy arrested Michael Marlin Matthews, 19, of Grand Junction for domestic abuse assault – first offense*.
Friday, Sept. 18: At 9:20 am a deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction to investigate a burglary and theft of personal property.
Thursday, Sept. 17: At 11:26 am a deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of Lovejoy St in Rippey to investigate criminal mischief to the door of a vacant property.
Wednesday, Sept. 16: At 11:39 am the chief deputy sheriff was advised of a harassment concern at the Paton- Churdan school in Churdan. At 6:53 pm a deputy investigated an attempted burglary at a building site in the 900 block of County Road E-33 (190th St) in Bristol Township. At 7:12 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 1800 block of County Road E-53 (235th St) west of Grand Junction for the report of several hunters trespassing on private property. At 11:39 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of W. 2nd Street in Rippey to investigate criminal mischief to a door and window.
Tuesday, Sept. 15: At 9:34 pm the chief deputy sheriff and Scranton fire units were dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highways 30 and 25 north of Scranton. Louis Hastings Walsh, 73, of Carroll was northbound on Highway 25 and had stopped at the intersection with his vehicle out in the traveled portion of Highway 30. His vehicle was struck in the right rear tire and trunk area by an eastbound vehicle driven by Robert Lavern Twit, 70, of Ames. Damage to Walsh’s 2015 Cadillac was estimated at $10,000 and damage to Twit’s 2012 Ford Explorer was estimated at $5,000. Greene County EMS was also on scene, but all persons involved refused further medical attention. Walsh was issued a citation for unsafe stopping.
Monday, Sept. 14: At 10:45 am a deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction to investigate the theft of electricity from the Grand Junction Municipal Light Plant by manipulation of the pole meter. At 11:48 am a deputy was advised of a male and female subject that were reported to be having a verbal altercation along the roadway on County Road E-53 (230th St) near County Road P-33 (S Ave) west of Grand Junction. After an investigation by the deputy, the female was given a ride back to Grand Junction by friends and the male subject was later located in Jefferson and issued a citation for driving while suspended. At 1:25 pm, the Greene County sheriff’s office was advised of a missing black steer in the 1200 block of 110th St in Highland Township. At 1:27 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Rebecca St in Grand Junction to investigate the reported theft of bath towels that were taken from the Grand Junction Laundromat. Video from the laundromat is being reviewed at this time. At 10:52 pm a deputy located and arrested Lance Michael Ross, 18, of Grand Junction, on an outstanding warrant and transported him to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center.
Sunday, Sept. 13: At 10:36 am, a deputy was dispatched for the report of a single vehicle in the ditch on 210th Street just east of Highway 4 in Bristol Township. After an investigation by the deputy, the owner of the car, Joshua Adam Kennedy, 22 of Jefferson was issued a citation for failure to maintain control of his vehicle. At 1:55 pm a deputy was advised of a careless driver that nearly caused several accidents on County Road E-13 (110th Street) and was then southbound on Eaton Ave in Cedar Township. The deputy located the car and driver and spoke with her about her driving actions.
Saturday, Sept. 12: At 4:26 am a deputy and personnel from the Greene County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident in the 100 block of County Road P-46 (X Ave) in Paton Township. Lexie Rae Crimmins, 20, of Fort Dodge was northbound on P-46 when she lost control of her 2014 Ford Fiesta and it entered the east ditch, striking an electrical utility pole. Crimmins was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge with non-life threatening injuries. She was cited for failure to maintain control. Her vehicle was estimated to be a total loss. Damage to the utility pole, owned by ITC and used by Alliant Energy, was estimated to be $8,000. She was wearing her seat belt and the air bags did deploy. At 5:06 a deputy was advised of cattle on the roadway in the 900 block of 120th St in Highland Township. The cow was located and returned to a building site.
Friday, Sept. 11: At 10:10 am a deputy was advised of the location of possible stolen items hidden in Greene County. At 5:18 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction to investigate criminal mischief to a pickup.
Thursday, Sept. 10: At 6:42 am a deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd St in Rippey to investigate the theft of a red 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck. At 8:01 pm a deputy was advised that Amy Marie Simpson of Jefferson reported that she had struck a deer on Highway 30 near Orchard Ave east of Jefferson and would pick up an accident report at the Law Enforcement Center. At 9:20 pm a deputy was dispatched to the intersection of Highway 4 and 330th St in Franklin Township to check a reported suspicious vehicle that was reported to be parked along the roadway. The driver was identified and was reported to talking on his cell phone.
Wednesday, Sept. 9: At 11:19 am a deputy was advised of a trespassing concern in the 400 block of Head St in Churdan. At 11:36 am a deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of R Ave in Dawson Township to investigate a burglary and theft of tools. At 1:49 pm, several members of the Greene County sheriff’s office, a JPD officer and an Iowa State Patrol officer were advised of an erratic and careless driver on Highway 30 near Jefferson. The vehicle was not located at that time. At 3:42 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of 150th St in Cedar Township to investigate the illegal storage of property on the county right of way.

Monday, Sept. 7: At 1:34 pm a deputy assisted a JPD officer with a call in the 300 block of W. Reed St in Jefferson. At 2:42 pm a Carroll County deputy assisted a Greene County deputy with a traffic stop in Carroll County after the Greene County deputy was detained by a train on 230th St and D Ave in Scranton Township and unable to pursue the SUV. At 10:21 pm a deputy assisted a JPD officer with a reported burglary and arrest of a male subject in the 300 block of N. Elm St in Jefferson.
Sunday, Sept. 6: At 10:03 pm, a deputy checked several locations in southern Greene County for water over the roadways during the excessive rain and lightning storm.
Saturday, Sept. 5: At 1:48 am a deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of W. Main St in Grand Junction to investigate a reported domestic assault. The male subject had fled from the residence before the deputy’s arrival. After an investigation, the deputy will be charging the male subject with two counts of child endangerment and one count of domestic abuse assault. At 9:23 am, a deputy, the chief deputy sheriff and K-9 Leo assisted a Jefferson police officer with searching a vehicle in the parking lot at the Wild Rose Casino. After an investigation, the JPD officer subsequently arrested two subjects on drug related charges and transported them to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center. At 4:55 pm, a deputy was advised of an erratic and careless driver on Highway 30 eastbound from Scranton. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on that vehicle near Highway 25 for driving 80 mph in a 55 zone. After advising the driver of her erratic driving actions, citations were issued for reckless driving and speeding.
Friday, Sept. 4: At 3:26 pm a deputy was dispatched to a reported two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 25 and County Road E-63 (330th St) in Willow Township. Robert James Hofbauer, 55, of Coon Rapids was northbound on Highway 25 and attempted to stop at the stop sign at E-63 when Dorris Arlene Dailey, 87, of Bayard rounded the intersection to turn south on Highway 25 and struck the Hofbauer truck. No injuries were reported to either driver but Hofbauer’s 2010 Ford 250 pickup truck sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages. The Dailey’s 2002 Ford Taurus sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage. Dailey was issued a citation for failure to yield half of roadway. At 4:41 pm, a deputy was dispatched to Deal’s Orchard in the 1100 block of 244th St in Jackson Township to investigate a minor backing accident.
Thursday, Sept. 3: At 8:33 am a deputy was advised of underage parties at the shelter house and vandalism to poles at the entrance to Squirrel Hollow Park in Grant Township. At 1:39 pm two deputies were advised of a possible intoxicated driver at the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. The deputies located the vehicle and subsequently initiated a traffic stop. The driver and passenger were evaluated and issued citations for driving while license suspended and failure to prove security against liability.
