October as Bully Awareness Month will kick off with a Walk the Talk Run Walk Roll Saturday, Oct. 3. Two locations are slated: Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill and the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.
Check-in at both locations will begin at 8 am, with an untimed one mile event at 9 am and a timed 5K event at 9:30.
The route will be on hard surface roadways through business and residential areas. The “roll” part of the event, a bicycle ride, will be held only in Jefferson, with an untimed bike ride on the Raccoon River Valley Trail. Medals will be awarded to winners in the 5K race.
The early registration fee of $15 for the one mile and $20 for the 5K ends at midnight Sept. 27. After that date, the registration fees increase by $5. Those who register after Sept. 27 are not guaranteed to receive a T-shirt the day of the event. There is a group discount for groups of four or more.
