Jefferson city officials will hold a workshop Thursday, Sept. 10, for potential candidates seeking election as mayor or for city council openings in District 2 and one “at large” seat. The workshop will begin at 6 pm and will be held at the Jefferson municipal building at 200 N. Chestnut St.
The one-hour workshop is designed to provide potential candidates with an overview of the city government structure and current city projects along with the responsibilities and amount of time required to serve as an elected official of the city.
Although this is not a mandatory meeting, potential candidates, as well as the general public, are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop in preparation for the election on Nov. 3.
Nominating petitions must be filed at the county auditor’s office at the courthouse by Thursday, Sept. 17, at 5 pm. Twenty-five valid signatures are needed on the petition.
