The Greene County Ram cross country teams opened their 2015 season Thursday at the Gilbert Invitational on the Iowa State University cross country course in Ames. The boys team finished 12th of 12 teams and the girls team finished ninth of nine teams.
Nick Killion finished first of the Rams in the boys race in 81st place with a time of 21:17. Kane Borgeson was 92nd with a time of 21:35. Other times were Ben Wilkins 24.10, Nathan Kennedy 26:58 and Jacob Hueser 31.06. All are sophomores.
Junior Olivia Hansen was the first Ram girl to cross the finish in 34th place with a time of 23:47. Sophomore Emily Finch was 35th with a time of 23:48. Freshman Melanie Doran was 78th at 27:04. Other times were seniors Sunny Mobley at 29:46 and Emily Most at 31:51, and sophomores Emily Bettey at 34:32 and Caytlyn Adamson at 36:11.
The teams are coached by Kelly Simpson and assistant Pat Gerhardt.
