Brittany Gunn of Grand Junction was among the 56 exhibitors from 36 chapters in the FFA rabbit show judged Aug. 13 at the Iowa State Fair. A total of 295 animals were shown in this year’s competition. Gunn earned honors as follows:

Hot August Night a big success
Hot August Night, held Thursday around Jefferson’s courthouse square and the adjoining side streets was bigger than ever, with 450 cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors registered. The RPM Club had the most registered exhibitors in the show. Members gave their $200 cash prize to Freedom Flight. The Spirit Award was presented to Merlin Schau with his 1956 Chevy Bel Air.

Temperatures in Jefferson were mild for August during the week that ended Aug. 14. Volunteer weather observer John Beltz reports a high temperature of 85 degrees and a low temperature of 59 degrees on three nights of the week. Jefferson received just under one-half inch of rain.
