The deadline for purchasing commemorative brick pavers for the Rippey Consolidated School memorial has been extend to Aug. 15 in an attempt to reach a goal of 100 bricks. The bricks are $50 each and can have up to three lines of lettering at 18 spaces per line.
The Buy a Brick project is co-sponsored by the Rippey Alumni Association and the Friends of Rippey.
Forms are available at either bank, the library and the Methodist Church, or by contacting Mary Weaver at 515-360-8046 for a mailed form.
To date 77 bricks have been sold, with lettering including“Go Bulldogs,” “Best Mom Ever,” and a listing of 11 children from one family. The usual lettering is the name and the year of graduation. The memorial bricks will be placed in the front of the memorial and continue to the flagpole.
Funds generated from the sale will be used to complete the Rippey School Memorial, including adding solar lights around the brick memorial. The masonry work is being completed voluntarily by Keith Devilbiss, 1956 graduate of Rippey.
Bricks may be purchased by individuals that are friends of Rippey, attended the Rippey School, taught at the school, or as a memorial for a loved one that attended the Rippey Consolidated School.
