Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Friday, July 31: At 10:58 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of Main Street East in Grand Junction to check the report of an underage party.
Thursday, July 30: At 9:36 pm a deputy was dispatched to the Union Pacific railroad crossing on County Road P-33 (S Ave) west of Grand Junction to check the report of a large piece of concrete missing from the crossing. The Union Pacific planned to send a maintenance crew to check the crossing.
Wednesday, July 29: At 10 am the chief deputy arrested Ricardo Rodriguez of Jefferson for public intoxication-third offense at the Law Enforcement Center*. At 11:30 am a deputy investigated a report of a suspected stolen bicycle in the 400 block of 11th St in Grand Junction. At 12 pm Jesse Summerfield of Dow City, Iowa was booked into the county jail for a probation violation and was later released after he posted bond. At 3:20 pm James Eberle of Jefferson was booked into the county jail for disorderly conduct*. At 5:36 pm a deputy investigated a rollover accident on Highway 144 and 215th St north of Grand Junction. Juan Romero of Omaha, NE, was traveling southbound on Highway 144 and lost control of his vehicle, rolling the 2010 Ford Transit van three to four times, totaling the vehicle. Romero was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Grand Junction rescue. Grand Junction fire was also on the scene. Romero had minor injuries from the accident and was cited for failure to maintain control. At 8:45 pm a deputy was called to investigate a car deer accident in the 900 block of 215th St in Bristol Township. The Iowa State Patrol covered the accident.

Monday, July 27: At 3 am a deputy was dispatched to the northeast part of the county to assist deputies from Webster County with trying to locate a vehicle that was involved in several burglaries and thefts in Farnhamville. At 4:38 pm a deputy was dispatched for a car-deer accident on County Road E-53 (237th St) near Kirkwood Ave west of Jefferson. The car sustained only minor damage to the front bumper. At 9:30 pm a deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 144 and County Road E-53 (230th St) south of Grand Junction. Patty Ann Myers, 62, of Grand Junction, was northbound on Highway 144 when she struck a tree branch that had fallen on the roadway. Myers’ 2013 Dodge van had estimated damages of $500.
Sunday, July 26: At 1:12 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of Main Street East in Grand Junction for a physical domestic altercation. After an investigation the deputy arrested Jonathan Dale Laue, 38, of Grand Junction for domestic abuse assault-simple*. At 2:36 pm a deputy and a JPD officer responded to a reported hit and run two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 30 and M Ave west of Jefferson. Jerry Dean Vincent, 80, of Jefferson was southbound on M Ave and approaching the Highway 30 stop sign when Nicholas Anthony Balderas, 23, of Bagley, who was westbound attempted to turn on to M Ave but struck Vincent’s vehicle. Balderas then left the scene of the accident. He was later found at a residence in Jefferson and arrested by a deputy and the JPD officer. Balderas was charged with operating while intoxicated – second offense, interference with official acts, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving while license denied/suspended/canceled/revoked*. No injuries were reported. Damage to Vincent’s 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was estimated at $5,500. Damage to Balderas’ 2000 Ford Focus was estimated at $3,500. At 7:05 pm, a JPD officer tried to initiate a traffic stop in Jefferson which led to a pursuit into the county. Two deputies and the sheriff joined in the pursuit on multiple county roads and eventually required putting out stop sticks at 215th Street and Granite Ave in Bristol Township. The pickup passed over the stop sticks and proceeded onto Highway 30, westbound, turning south on Eaton Ave in an attempt to get into Scranton. Deputy David Kersey preformed a successful pit maneuver and the vehicle slid into the east ditch. Arrested at the scene was Anthony Charles Kennedy, 33, for a probation violation, OWI, interference with official acts and eluding*.
Saturday, July 25: At 8:25 am a deputy was advised of the theft of three 5 gallon gasoline containers full of gas from a garage in the 1800 block of County Road E-53 (235th St) east of Grand Junction. Nothing other than the fuel was reported taken. At 11 pm a deputy and Grand Junction fire and rescue were dispatched to a reported single vehicle rollover accident that occurred on 185th St just west of V Ave in Junction Township. Chandler Matthew Carrick, 16, of Perry was westbound driving 2013 Honda CRV when he lost control of his vehicle and it entered the north ditch. Carrick and two juvenile passengers were transported to the Greene County Medical Center for further observation. The accident is under investigation at this time with charges pending.

Thursday, July 23: At 5:18 am, a deputy was dispatched to “S” curve south of Jefferson on Highway 4 for a car-deer accident. Joann Lynn Mundt, 43, of Dawson was northbound on Highway 4,when a deer ran onto the roadway and was struck by Mundt. She was not injured but her 2012 Jeep Compass sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage. At 12:12 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction to investigate a harassment concern.
Wednesday, July 22: At 3:29 am a deputy and fire units from Paton and Grand Junction all responded to a reported structure fire at 2102 110th St in Paton Township. A vacant farm home was fully engulfed when the deputy and fire units first arrived on scene. It was reported that the old farm home had not been lived in for many years. The fire is under investigation at this time. At 9:04 pm a deputy, a JPD officer and the Jefferson fire department all assisted with a river retrieval of four teens from the Raccoon River after their raft capsized southwest of Jefferson. The two females and two males, ages 16-17, entered the river at the Danger Hill boat ramp and intended to float on a purchased raft to Henderson Park south of Jefferson. It was reported that their raft struck a log jam and capsized. The youth then made it to shore but were unsure where they were on the river as it became dark. A JPD officer walked the river until he located the youth. The Jefferson fire department entered the river with their rescue boat at the Danger Hill boat ramp and located the youth and the officer downstream. No one was reported to be injured.
Tuesday, July 21: At 2:41 am a Greene and Boone County deputy were advised of a possible under age party that was occurring in the 2400 block of 180th St in Junction Township. The deputies subsequently arrested Laricka Aseelah Grady Al-Hameed, 19, and Kole Dylan Evans, 20, both of Fort Dodge for possession of alcohol under 21*. One juvenile was also transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center to be picked up by a parent. At 10:19 am deputies were advised of possible suspicious activity at the Heartland Cooperative in Rippey. At 4:21 pm two Greene and two Boone County Deputies, an Iowa State Patrol officer and an Ogden police officer were all advised of a suspicious vehicle with two males attempting to enter the old abandoned Werner gas station east of Grand Junction on Highway 30. The described car was then reported to be eastbound on Highway 30. The car and driver were soon located at a residence in Boone County and the driver and his passenger were identified and questioned.
Monday, July 20: At 10:55 am a deputy spoke with a resident in the 200 block of Anyer St in Dana about a harassment concern. At 2:48 pm a deputy investigated criminal mischief to a mailbox in the 1700 block of L Ave in Bristol Township. The mailbox had been struck by a vehicle. At 7:05 pm a deputy was advised of a harassment concern in the 1100 block of State Street in Scranton. At 8:13 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of Adaza St in Churdan for a reported assault. After an investigation, the deputy arrested Joshua Harold Gingery, 30, for assault*.
Sunday, July 19: At 12:53 pm a deputy was dispatched to a one vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 30 near L Ave west of Jefferson. Michael Eugene Hoover, 66, of Los Angeles, CA, was westbound on Highway 30 and attempted to pass another vehicle when he lost control of the car and entered the north ditch, striking a culvert. Hoover and a passenger were not injured but his 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser sustained an estimated $4,000 in damage. At 1:15 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the county boat ramp at the Adkins bridge access on 305th St in Washington Township. Rodney Jay Wenger, 50, of Ogden was attempting to unload a jet ski from a trailer when his 2011 Chevrolet Tahao, the trailer and the jet ski went into the river and floated down stream before coming to rest against a log jam. Wenger was not in the Tahoe at the time and was not injured. Damage to the Tahoe was estimated to be $31,000. Wenger was issued a citation for operation of a non-registered vehicle. At 4:44 pm, a deputy assisted a JPD officer with a three vehicle accident on Highway 30 at the intersection with Mulberry Street.
Saturday, July 18: At 5:03 pm, a deputy, the Scranton fire department and the Ralston fire department all responded to a fire that involved a farm tractor pulling a hay baler at 175th street and C Ave in Kendrick Township. The Vermeer 605 round hay baler that is owned by John McCormick was determined to be a total loss, with $10,000 in damages to the tractor pulling the baler.

Thursday, July 17: At 9:33 pm, two deputies assisted a JPD officer with a harassment call in the 400 block of E. McKinley St. At 9:46 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of Madison St in Scranton to investigate a reported assault.
Wednesday, July 15: At 8:13 pm a deputy was dispatched to Scranton to investigate a vehicle that was reported to be driving around town soliciting for a gas giveaway. The vehicle was stopped and the driver’s identity was determined. At 9:07 pm a deputy spoke with a home owner in Grand Junction about the attempted theft of property from a residence he just purchased.
Tuesday, July 14: At 9:15 pm, a deputy assisted the JPD while officers were on another call by arresting Dustin Axle Brobst, 24, Of Perry for trespassing and disorderly conduct (loud or raucous noise) at the Kum and Go Store in Jefferson*. At 11:41 pm a deputy was involved in a foot pursuit after he initiated a traffic stop for speeding on Highway 144 at 185th St in Junction Township. The subject bolted from the vehicle and ran from the deputy. The chief deputy sheriff and K-9 Leo were called to the location, but were not able to locate the driver who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and believed to a male subject. The car was taken to the impound lot in Jefferson and the owner was advised.
Monday, July 13: At 4:40 pm, a deputy spoke with an out of county male subject advising that he was receiving threatening and harassing messages from a Greene County resident . At 9:28 pm a deputy was dispatched to a residence at 16th St North in Grand Junction to investigate a reported assault involving two male subjects.
Sunday, July 12: At 3:15 pm, two deputies assisted a JPD officer with a possible domestic abuse assault call in Jefferson. At 3:54 pm two deputies responded to a party in progress at the Black’s pits gravel area west of Jefferson. After an investigation and conducting field sobriety the deputies arrested Jessica Amber Montoya, 20, of Churdan, for possession of alcohol by a minor under 21 – first offense*, and Travis Ryan Armstrong, 26, of Jefferson for possession of controlled substance – cannabidiol – second offense*. A juvenile was also taken to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center for release to his parents. At 9:04 pm a deputy was advised of the theft of a 4-wheel ATV from the 1600 block of 110th St in Highland Township.
Saturday, July 11: At 11:23 pm a deputy assisted a JPD officer with a possible fight in progress call in the 200 block of N. Oak St in Jefferson.

Thursday, July 9: At 7:49 am, a deputy was advised of criminal mischief in the Seven Hills Park in Jackson Township that occurred the previous night. At 12:55 pm a deputy investigated a car that was stuck in a timber area in the 500 block of 195th St in Kendrick Township. The vehicle was towed to the impound lot in Jefferson. At 4:11 pm two Greene County deputies, Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel, Grand Junction fire and rescue and the Jefferson fire department all responded to a reported two vehicle accident between a car and a semi-tractor trailer on Highway 30 near County Road P-33 west of Grand Junction that was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol. Two persons were transported to the Greene County Medical Center for evaluation of their injuries. At 5:48 pm a deputy was dispatched to Grand Junction to investigate the illegal dumping of lumber by the city dump.
Wednesday, July 8: At 9:51 am, law enforcement agencies from Greene, Dallas, Guthrie and Union counties all participated in finding a distraught female who had driven away from Rippey. Her travel was tracked by her cell phone transmissions. She was later located by Union County sheriff’s deputies near Cromwell. At 10:30 am the chief deputy sheriff investigated threats made to an individual in the 400 block of Sand Street in Churdan. At 9:15 pm a deputy was dispatched to a pickup-deer accident on 222nd Street just west of Parkland Ave east of Jefferson. Benjamin Robert Jacobson, 21, of Jefferson was westbound on 222nd St when a deer ran from the south ditch, striking the pickup truck. Jacobson was not injured but his 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck sustained an estimated $3500 in damages.
Tuesday, July 7: At 8:17 am a deputy checked a littering concern in the 2300 block of 337th St in Washington Township. At 8:54 am, a deputy was dispatched to the 1100 block of County Road D-63 (330th St) in Greenbrier Township for the report of vehicles not slowing while in a construction area. At 2 pm a deputy investigated the theft of a band instrument from the Greene County Intermediate School in Grand Junction. At 6:48 pm a deputy was dispatched for the report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 144 near 160th St south of Paton. After a preliminary investigation and field sobriety testing, the deputy subsequently arrested Ryan James Hanson, 31, of Jefferson for operating while intoxicated- first offense and failure to maintain control*.
Monday, July 6: At 2:35 pm, a deputy conducted a follow-up investigation at the United Bank of Iowa in Churdan. At 4 pm a deputy initiated an investigation into a reported child abuse case. At 7:15 pm two deputies responded to a two vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 195th Street and P Ave in Hardin Township. Austin Dean Saddoris, 20, of rural Jefferson was eastbound on 195th St. Raymond William Wampler, 33, of rural Scranton was southbound on P Ave. Their vehicles collided in the intersection. Saddoris and a passenger in Wampler’s vehicle were transported to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County EMS for observation. Wampler will be cited for failure to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection. Damage to Saddoris’s 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and to Wampler’s 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was estimated to exceed value. At 10:27 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction to investigate criminal mischief to a house window.
Sunday, July 5: At 12:46 am a deputy initiated a traffic stop for speeding on Highway 30 and T Ave west of Grand Junction and subsequently arrested Brennan Richard Tabor, 27, of Morgan City, LA, for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance- first offense*. At 5:20 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 2200 block of W Ave in Washington Township to talk with the property owner about persons trespassing on his property. At 6:48 pm a deputy was advised of a one vehicle traffic accident that occurred in the county with the driver leaving the scene. The driver was contacted and advised that he would need to fill out the accident report to the state.
Saturday, July 4: At 1:14 pm, a deputy was dispatched to County Road N-65 (D Ave) and 125th St in Cedar Township for a male subject sitting in his car on the roadway. After a preliminary field investigation the deputy arrested Robert Derrick Sheber, 44 of Elkader for operating while Intoxicated-first offense, open container, driving while suspended/driving while denied, suspended, canceled or revoked*. At 9:50 pm a deputy, Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel and Grand Junction rescue all responded to a 4-wheel ATV accident that occurred in the 1500 block of T Ave in Junction Township. Terry Lynn Lowmiller, 51, was transported to the Greene County Medical Center for her injuries.
Friday, July 3: At 6:15 am, a deputy was advised of a vehicle on its side in the ditch at M Avenue and 210th St in Bristol Township. The 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup is owned by Cory James Schwering, 20, of Scranton. Schwering was not at the scene upon the deputy’s arrival and the pickup was towed to the impound lot in Jefferson. The accident is under investigation at this time. At 9:28 am a deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of E. Paton St in Paton to investigate the theft of personal property from the residence. At 4:52 pm a deputy was advised by the United Bank of Iowa of a male cashing fraudulent checks in three of their locations. The deputy will be viewing the banks video. At 10:22 pm a deputy investigated the theft of car keys from a vehicle that was parked in the 600 block of Main St West in Grand Junction. At 11:58 pm a deputy located a male subject in the 200 block of Lawrence St in Dana that was wanted by Boone County on outstanding warrants. The deputy arrested Kohl Milton Fisher, 20, and transported him to the Boone-Greene County line for transport by a Boone County deputy.
Thursday, July 2: At 2:32 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of Stanton St in Scranton to investigate the theft of prescription medication. The theft is under investigation with charges pending.
Wednesday, July 1: At 2:37 am the Grand Junction fire department and a deputy were dispatched to a small kitchen fire at 407 South 9th Street in Grand Junction. The Grand Junction fire department quickly extinguished the flames and determined the cause of the fire to be electrical. At 3:50 pm a deputy was advised of a burglary and theft of personal property from a residence in the 1200 block of County Road E-57 (290th St) in Greenbrier Township. At 3:54 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 400 block of East Hager St in Grand Junction to investigate the theft of personal property by a relative. At 5:53 pm a deputy spoke with a resident in the 600 block of Main St in Grand Junction about his receiving harassing phone calls from a female and her possible violation of a no contact order. At 8:37 pm a deputy was advised by a resident in the 800 block of Terrace Ave in Junction Township of his finding a small boat in the ditch.
