Greene County magistrate court, week ending July 17

In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered July 14 against Russell Lee Gardner of Panora in a case initiated in district court. Gardner pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault, amended from domestic abuse assault-third or subsequent offense. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail; all but two were suspended. He must participate in a domestic abuse intervention services program through the Iowa Department of Corrections, and he will be on unsupervised probation for one year. The minimum fine and surcharge were suspended. A charge of obstructing emergency communication was dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Gardner must pay $138 court costs.

A judgment was entered against Patrick Michael Kennedy of Jefferson on a charge of violation of a no contact order. Kennedy must pay a $65 fine with a $22.75 surcharge and $124.50 court costs. The no contact order was dismissed.

A judgment for a $65 fine and a $22.75 surcharge was entered against Lorrie LeianneLawrence of Jefferson after she was found guilty at a trial of interference with official acts. Court costs were $60.

A judgment for a $65 fine and a $22.75 surcharge was entered against Jeffery Paul Olberding of Scranton on a charge of criminal mischief-fifth degree. Olberding must also pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge and $60 court costs.

A judgment for a $65 fine and a $22.75 surcharge was entered against Colton Allen Smith of Melbourne on a charge of theft-fifth degree. Smith must also pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge and $60 court costs.

Cases were initiated in magistrate court during the week ending July 17 as follows: Phillip E. Lautner of Adel, violation of title – vehicles acquired for sale; Joseph Thomas Romeo II of Jefferson, disorderly conduct; Dustin Axle Brobst of Perry, public intoxication; and Richard Charles Burkhardt of Jefferson, disorderly conduct.

Persons paid fines for scheduled traffic violations during the week ending July 17 as follows: Paul Anthony Daggett of Minburn, violation financial liability (accident), $500; Megan Lynn Bianchi of Mitchellville, speed, $120; *Charles Thomas Hinote of Jefferson, registration violation, $20 (two citations), and failure to use required towing equipment, $35; *Cory James Schwering of Ogden, failure to maintain control, $100, and operating nonregistered vehicle, $50; Belinda Anne Karber of Jefferson, operation without registration, $50; and Jamie Ray Alvarado of Grand Junction, failure to have valid license or permit while operating, $200.

Speed, $40 (6-10 over): Mary Katherine O’Loughlin of Independence, David Allen Marston of New Ulm, TX, *Timothy Martin Howard of Carroll, and Donald Leroy Ahrens of Maple Grove, MN.

Speed, $20 (1-5 over): *Ronald Eugene Glade of Guthrie Center, Michael Gene Grecco of Perry, and Daniel W. Johnsman of Celina, OH.

Commercial motor vehicle violations: Scott Edward Thompson, no/improper heavy vehicle/machine securement, $50; and Patrick James Kenney of Dedham, glazing permits less than 70 percent of light, $50.

Judgments were entered against individuals for nonpayment of scheduled fines as follows (original fine listed): Danielle Ann Johnson of Rippey, failure to display registration plated, $20; Dennis Allan Dostal of Toledo, speed, $20; Deigo Manuel Diaz of Carroll, operating ATV with more persons than vehicle designed for, $100; and *Shawn J. Gifford of Jefferson, speed, $40.

The judgment includes a penalty of one-half the original fine and surcharge.

Court costs were $60 on each citation unless otherwise noted.

*An additional $5 county surcharge was added.
