Workshop on energy efficient homes slated

Greene County residents are invited to attend a workshop – Creating Energy Efficient, Healthy Homes – hosted by ISU Extension and Outreach of Webster County at Iowa Central Community College’s east campus in Fort Dodge.

The workshop is slated for Saturday, Aug. 1, from 8:30 am to 4 pm. The workshop will bring forward concepts that can be applied to any home, in a town or on an acreage, or any occupied building space.

Advanced energy efficiency construction practices that make homes, facilities, and buildings more efficient, affordable, comfortable and healthy are a distinct possibility now.  In-town and acreage home owners, business building owners, city and county facilities managers, shop owners and farm facilities (grain drying and livestock housing) owners can all benefit from energy efficient practices and improved technologies.

Topics to be covered include home tightening and air sealing, geothermal installation, solar energy panels, building code requirements for energy efficiency, combating household pests, and on-farm energy efficiency.

Cost of the workshop is $50 per person if registered before July 24. A registration form is available at www.extension.iastate.edu/webster/  or call the Webster County Extension office at 515-576-2119.
