Free Google Chrome class starts June 29

The Jefferson public library will host a free computer class, “Using Google Chrome,” Mondays from 6 to 8 pm. The six-week course was originally slated to begin June 15 but has been delayed to begin June 29. Barb Brooker, whose particular expertise is teaching folks who think they’re too old to learn how to use technology, will teach the class.

Contractor hired, construction to begin soon

New Grand Junction Community Center The construction of a new community center in Grand Junction passed another benchmark Monday. The city council accepted the low bid of $1,128,700 from Jensen Builders of Fort Dodge for construction. Weather permitting, construction will start within the next month. Completion is expected for late January.

Greene County school board to ask for $20M

Voters in the Greene County Community School District will be asked to approve a $20 million bond issue for construction to create a campus for grades 5-12 at the high school location in Jefferson. The board will take action  at a special meeting June 24 at noon to place the question on the ballot for the regular school election Sept. 8.
