Paton will showcase the best of small town life at Paton Fun Day Saturday, June 27. All area residents are invited to participate in a wide variety of activities.
The Loren Shriver Community Center and the adjacent city park will be the scene for most events.
The day starts at 8 am with a Pound the Pavement 5K fun run. The registration fee is a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center.
Breakfast will be served in the park from 8 to 10 am. A double bocci ball tournament will begin at 10 am, as will a human foosball tournament sponsored by Bauer Built Manufacturing. A Show & Shine Car Show for cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles will be nearby from 10 am to 1 pm.
Lunch in the Park begins at 11 am at the Community Center, and the popular co-ed volleyball tournament will also begin at 11 am.
The Town and Country Band will provide the Sweet Sounds of Summer in the park shelter house at 1 pm. The band has expanded its repertoire and will perform in Paton music not yet performed anywhere else this summer.
As the band is playing, John Deere of Paton will provide cake, lemonade and coffee. Also, people at all skill levels will play horse shoes at 1 pm.
VFW Post 9599 will call bingo games from 2 to 4 pm., with drawings and a chance to win a 3′ X 5′ American flag. Another sort of bingo – cow pie bingo – will be available all day long. Purchase tickets from Noah Juergensen or Reilly Niles for a chance to win.
A beer garden with the band Party Attack will open at 9 pm, sponsored by 209 Main.
