The Jefferson park and recreation department will be part of the big show at Bell Tower Big Top with a trio of Festival favorites.
The bags tournament will return to the south side of the square Friday evening, June 12. Men, women, and coed teams (two persons each), ages 14 and older, will compete in the same tournament, with double elimination play if there are enough teams. A separate bracket will be created for children 13 and younger.
The winning adult team will receive a cash prize. The winning youth team will receive Chamber Bucks. JPRD will have a limited number of boards and bags available. Teams are encouraged to bring their own. Pre-registration is encouraged but not necessary. There is a $20 entry fee per team.
Runners, wannabe runners, and anyone who can ambulate are all invited to be part of the Ding Dong Dash Saturday, June 13. A 1-mile Fun Run will begin at 8 am, with a 5K and 10K timed race starting at 8:20. The start and finish place for all three routes is the Greene County Community Center. Runners will run in seven age divisions (male and female) in the 5K race and in six age divisions (also male and female) in the 10K race. First and second place medals will be awarded in every division. The registration fee is $25 before June 5 and $30 after June 5. (Race Day registration will begin at 7 am.)
A 3-on-3 basketball tournament sponsored by AAI-Spalding will take place in Russell Park. Team check-in is 12 pm at the park. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required. Playing times will not be known until that day to allow for same day registrants. The entry fee is $15 per player.
