Habitat opens office in Jefferson

Habitat signHeart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity, serving Boone, Greene and Guthrie Counties, has moved into its office at 114 S. Chestnut St in Jefferson (formerly Ecklund Plumbing and Heating). Putting up the sign last Thursday were (from left) Harry Ahrenholtz, president of the Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity board, Gary Von Ahsen, Greene County Habitat board member, and associate director Jeff Lamoureux.

The central administrative office will remain in Boone County. Lamoureux will staff the Jefferson office. His responsibilities lie primarily in Greene and Guthrie Counties.

The Heart of Iowa affiliate was formed in January of this year. Guthrie County was affiliated with Dallas County under Habitat, much as Greene and Boone Counties were. Guthrie County came to the Boone-Greene affiliate because of the similarities of the rural counties. Lamoureux was hired as associate director shortly before the three-county affiliation was announced.

Lamoureux has used office space at the United Methodist Church in Jefferson since December. The new office will be open full time, but because the nature of the job will require Lamoureux to be away from his desk at times, calling ahead – 515-386-3093 is suggested.
