The Greene County Rams track and field teams competed strongly at the Woodward-Granger Hawk Relays in Granger Tuesday. The Rams won the girls team title and the boys finished second.
Ram girls placed in the top three in 17 of the 19 events and finished the meet with 208 points. Other team scores were Dallas Center-Grimes 167, Woodward-Granger 86, Gliddden-Ralston 78 and Iowa Christian Academy 16.
The Ram girls won all four field events. They took all three top places in the shot put, with seniors Hannah Onken first at 34’ 1 and Kayla Mobley second at 31’ 4”, and freshman Laurin Lyons third at 30’-6 1/2”. The Rams came in first and second in the discus, with Onken winning at 119’ 11” and sophomore Kenna Marquardt second at 106’ 4”.
Freshman Megan Durbin won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5’ 4”. Sophomore Nadia Fisher was third at 5’. Senior Emma Saddoris won the long jump with a leap of 16’ 3-1/2”.
Senior Eme Johnson won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of :15.81. Fisher finished third at :16.70. Johnson took second place in the 400 m hurdles with a time of 1:12.59.
In other individual races, freshman Emily Finch was second in the 3000 m run in 12:05.41, and classmate Haley Hall was third in 12:42.22. Senior Nicole Kuhl was second in the 400 m dash in 1:07.31. Senior Noelle Gray was third in the 800 m run in 2:51.44 and sophomore Hannah Stein was third in the 200 m dash in :28.10.
The girls won four relays. In the 4 X 400 m relay, Stein, Johnson, senior Emily Christensen and sophomore Olivia Hansen won in 4:19.612. Gray, Kuhl, freshman Chantel Flack and senior Jolee Wessling won the 4 X 800 in 10:44.76. The team of senior Mollie Sorber, Saddoris, Christensen and Stein won the 800 m sprint medley with a time of 1:56.08. Sorber, Fisher, senior Sarah Sandage and Johnson won the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:08.90.
The 4 X 100 m relay (Sorber, Saddoris, Christensen, Hansen) finished second in :52.85, and the 4 X 200 relay (Stein, Saddoris, Christensen, Hansen) finished second in 1:50.25. The distance medley relay (Sandage, sophomore Karli Anthofer, sophomore Taylor Wessling, freshman Lauren Carlson) placed third 5:01.75.
