Residents of Scranton will have the opportunity to clean up their properties Saturday morning. City officials have arranged for a dumpster for disposal of household items and extra garbage on April 25. It will be located across from City Hall on Main Street.
Hours for the clean up are 6 to 8 am.
Appliances are not allowed in the dumpster and should be placed curbside. Hazardous material, tires, shingles, rocks, bricks and other construction material is not allowed.
Yard waste will be accepted between the hours of 6 and 8 am that day. Brush should be delivered to the brush pile located near the city maintenance shed. Please remember, dumping of brush and junk on city grounds at any other time is illegal.
Volunteers will be onsite at each location to assist and monitor disposal.
City officials urge residents to take advantage of this free service. “Now is a great time to clean out and spruce up yards to keep the community clean and to prepare for the influx of guests during the Scranton All School Reunion on June 20,” a city spokesperson said.
