The Rotary Club of Jefferson on April 20 announced eight more recipients of a total of $33,000 in grants for not-for-profit projects to benefit Greene county residents of all ages. A total of 46 grant applicants submitted requests totaling $93,000.
The club also awards scholarships to Greene County High School seniors pursuing post-secondary education.
Following are the grants awarded on Monday, April 20:
- Bell Tower Community Foundation – $750, reprint softbound Floyd Mahanay biography and scan pictures for future coffee table book, accepted by Peg Raney
- Greene County Intermediate School – $1,000, purchase text sets for students to read, accepted by Julie Neal
- Grand Junction public library – $500, paint interior of building prior to library’s centennial, accepted by Sue Kellogg
- Greene County HS after prom party – $500, toward expense of free party, accepted by Traci Beger
- Greene County Historical Society – $350, television on which to run recorded interviews and DVDs, accepted by Roger Aegerter
- Kids With a Connection mentoring program – $1,130, trip to I-Cubs game for mentees and mentors, accepted by Mary Tighe
- Scranton Community Center – $1,000, purchase new height-adjustable basketball backboards for gym, accepted by Dawn Rudolph
- Sierra Community Theatre – $2,100, toward purchase of new air conditioning unit, accepted by Sandy Groves
- Webb House – $1,500, needed building repairs and equipment, accepted by Jim North, DJ Baumgardner and Chance Bushman
The final group of grants will be awarded April 27. Watch for details.
